Breast cancer isn't quiet. Barbara fought it. So did her mother, Jackie, and her sister, Sallie. We've seen what that fight actually looks like up close. It's not soft pink ribbons and gentle language. It's screaming. It's crying. It's rage. It's also strategy — the kind of deliberate, clear-eyed planning it takes to sit across from a care team and fight for your life with everything you have. Survivors don't ask to be called warriors because it sounds nice. They call themselves warriors because they are.
So this candle doesn't get our usual restraint.
It's poured in CocoBees wax, coconut and beeswax together, harder and more deliberate in how it burns, because deliberate is the whole point. And the scent — blood orange, bay leaf, wood — isn't soft. It's bold on purpose. We fell in love with it before this candle existed, and when it came time to build something that could hold this much, no other scent came close.
It lives in a frosted pink vessel, once a year, every October. But we want to be honest about something: the fight doesn't stay inside October, and neither should the reason we make this. Our Fierce Ember candle returns every year not because the calendar says to, but because the people it's for don't get to put this down when the month ends.
Every element of this candle was a decision.

A portion of every Fierce Ember candle sold goes to breast cancer research at MD Anderson — the hospital that treated Barbara. This isn't a cause we chose from a list. It's the place that gave our family more time.
We're not going to make a vague promise and move on. Every October, we'll publish the running total here, year over year, so this stays something we're held to — not a line in an announcement.
